A memorandum of understanding between Ukroboronprom and the Swedish defense company Saab will significantly enhance the aviation sector of Ukroboronprom’s enterprises, according to Herman Smetanin, UATV English reports.
“I am very pleased that we are moving to implement this ambitious project in reality. This cooperation will greatly strengthen the aviation direction of production at Ukroboronprom, which will allow us to further reinforce the Ukrainian armed forces,” Smetanin said.
He expressed gratitude to Saab’s Deputy CEO Anders Carp, who co-signed the cooperation document with him, as well as the entire Saab leadership for their readiness to collaborate and the concrete steps already taken to achieve shared goals.
The memorandum, signed on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, formalizes key agreements on cooperation in aviation and radar surveillance.
Saab highlighted that Ukroboronprom has significant experience as a strategic producer of weapons and military equipment. As a leading Swedish defense and security company, Saab is ready to contribute its extensive defense expertise, particularly in aviation and airborne surveillance technologies.
The memorandum was signed on 13 February in the presence of Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Boris Pistorius.
