Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Initiates a Bill on the Tours of Ukrainian artists in Russia

This was announced by the press service of Vice Prime Minister Vyacheslav Kyrylenko.

“Hundreds of Ukrainian performers voluntarily refused to perform in Russia. Some for ethical reasons, others for political reasons. Of course, at a financial loss. Other performers, on the contrary, are happy to take advantage of using the field with even less competition, and entertain the Russian audience not free-of-charge, despite the Russian aggression in the Donbas and the annexation of Crimea. Such is their ethical choice. Only society can judge both ethical positions through the law adopted by the parliament,” said Kyrylenko.

For such a law, he proposes a “simple and easy to understand”: “If you are going to entertain the audience of the aggressor country , the yous should appeal to the SBU. After that you are registered in the specially created State Register of performers, who tour on the territory of the aggressor country that can be maintained, for example, by the National Council of Television and Radio Broadcasting. In Ukraine, the performers that are included in the Register pay a special fee, the proceeds of which are directly allocated to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.”

Kyrylenko also suggests that during a performance or a music video of a performer who is listed in the Register on Ukrainian TV channels, a note would be displayed at all times: “This performer tours on the territory of the aggressor country.” A corresponding message should also be aired on the radio before the track of such a performer is played.

The Vice Prime Minister expressed his belief that direct or concealed disrespect for one’s country should finally be judged by that very country.
