Ukrainian Ambassador to the US: Javelins Will Help Deter Further Aggression

Providing Ukraine with the American-made, anti-tank missile system, Javelin, is a clear message to the aggressor, and a significant contribution to the re-establishment of peace in Eastern Ukraine, said Ukrainian ambassador to the United States, Valeriy Chaly.

He wrote about this on Facebook.

“The order of the president and people of Ukraine is fulfilled. Javelin anti-tank missile systems will increase the combat effectiveness of the armed forces of Ukraine, which counteract Russian aggression. It will allow the lives of Ukrainian soldiers to be preserved,” Chaly wrote.

He emphasized that the key point is that this delivery is a clear signal from the U.S, that it is a strategic partner of Ukraine, and this will help deter further aggression and escalation of the conflict in Donbas.

Earlier, the U.S. State Department confirmed the delivery of Javelins to Ukraine.

This announcement sparked criticism from Moscow with Russian deputy foreign minister, Sergei Ryabkov, accusing the U.S. of “fomenting a war.”
