Some NATO members are wary of Ukraine’s accession to the alliance because of a possible backlash from Russia.

This was stated by Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba on Ukraine 24 TV channel, UA reports.

The Foreign Minister added that no third party can influence the decision on relations between Ukraine and NATO.

“Unfortunately, several NATO member states are still wondering what Russia will say when considering the prospect of Ukraine’s membership in the alliance. That is why we are talking to them in a planned way: stop looking at Ukraine through the prism of Russia” – Dmytro Kuleba said.

The Minister added that despite the “Russian factor”, Ukraine will become a member of NATO. Ukraine is making progress in reforming the country, in particular in the military sphere and the security vector.

To remind, NATO is closely monitoring the situation on the Russian-Ukrainian border and is ready to respond to any changes. This was stated by Secretary General of the Alliance Jens Stoltenberg.
