Ukraine highly appreciates support from Montenegro – Ihor Zhovkva, Zelensky’s office deputy head

Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Ihor Zhovkva held a meeting with Minister of Internal Affairs, Acting Minister of Defense of Montenegro Filip Adžić, who is in our country on a working visit.

Ihor Zhovkva informed the interlocutor about the current security situation in the context of the ongoing full-scale aggression of Russia and the course of the military operation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to de-occupy Ukrainian territories temporarily seized by the Russian Federation.

“We appreciate the important political support and practical assistance to our state from Montenegro. We are grateful for the Montenegrin side’s solidarity in supporting the sanctions imposed by the European Union against Russia in view of the military aggression against Ukraine,” the Deputy Head of the President’s Office emphasized.

For his part, Filip Adžić noted the unchanging position of his country regarding the support of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders.

The interaction of the two states in the military-technical sphere was discussed separately. Ihor Zhovkva expressed gratitude for the provided military assistance and emphasized the expectation that Montenegrin partners will continue to make appropriate efforts to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities.

During the meeting, special attention was paid to the practical aspects of our country’s movement towards NATO membership and the Montenegrin side’s support for this process. The Deputy Head of the Office of the President informed the interlocutor about the efforts of Ukraine in the process of implementing the strategy of Euro-Atlantic integration, as well as the vision of a complex of effective security guarantees, which are important to implement before our country becomes a member of the Alliance.
