Ukraine brought back 79 people from Afghanistan – Kuleba

During the capture of Kabul, Ukraine has managed to evacuate 79 citizens of five countries from Afghanistan. All the evacuees are safe now.

UA reports this with reference to the Facebook page of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba.

“79 citizens of Ukraine, Afghanistan, Belarus, the Netherlands, Croatia and Tajikistan escaped from danger and chaos boarding the Ukrainian plane. There are very young children among them as well. Someone has returned home, someone – to relatives, someone will continue journey further, someone will be forced to start life from scratch” – he wrote.

The Minister thanked employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, border guards, State Emergency Service, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Culture and the President’s Office for their assistance in preparing the evacuation.

The Taliban has entered the suburbs of Kabul yesterday. Afghan President Ashraf Ghani has resigned and left the country. The Taliban says they will wait for the final withdrawal of foreign troops before starting the formation of a new government.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has previously reported that work was underway to return Ukrainians from Afghanistan. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, there are from 50 to 100 citizens of Ukraine in the country.

To remind, earlier the Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned Ukrainians against trips to Afghanistan.
