The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine is working upon the return of Ukrainians from Afghanistan. Currently, there are between 50 and 100 Ukrainian citizens in that country, and no one has yet applied for evacuation.

This was stated by Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, UA reports citing the “Ukrinform”.

The Foreign Ministry has launched mechanisms to evacuate Ukrainians from Afghanistan. In particular, the ministry recommends that Ukrainian citizens who are currently in Afghanistan leave the country.

Dmytro Kuleba noted that for him the evacuation of Ukrainians from Afghanistan is an absolute priority.

“We have already started working out possible ways to evacuate them from Afghanistan if such appeals are received. So far, Ukrainian citizens have not appealed to the Foreign Ministry to bring them back from Afghanistan, but I emphasize once again that we work 24/7 and are ready to help our citizens in Afghanistan with all means available to us” – said the Foreign Minister.

Kuleba called on Ukrainians in Afghanistan to contact the Ukrainian embassy in Tajikistan and report their whereabouts.

According to Dmytro Kuleba, it is very difficult to predict the development of the security situation in Afghanistan.

To remind, earlier the Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned Ukrainians against trips to Afghanistan.
