Ukraine wants the Allies to make appropriate moves in the political dimension in order to deprive the Russian Federation of the opportunity to launch a new offensive.

The corresponding statement in an interview with Ukrinform was made by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valeriy Zaluzhnyy, UA writes.

“We all hope for and want is for the Allies to make appropriate moves in the political dimension, in order to deprive the Russian Federation of the opportunity to attract more forces and launch a new offensive against Ukraine. NATO allies have the appropriate leverage and opportunities to do that” – he said.

According to the Commander-in-Chief of the APU, it should be remembered that NATO is not only a military but also a political alliance.

“Importantly, and our NATO partners have confirmed today, they are well aware of the price to be paid if nothing is done. They remember what such inaction led to in the 38-39s of the last century. Probably something more worth doing in 2008 was to use the political levers of influence when the war against Georgia began. Something more could probably have been done in 2014, when Russia launched an aggression against Ukraine, occupied Crimea and part of Donbas. It is this political influence of the Alliance that we really hope for. For the rest, we are counting on our own strength” – Zaluzhnyy said.

Earlier, Kurt Volker assessed the likelihood of a new Russian invasion of Ukraine.
