The National Bank of Ukraine will put into circulation two coins to commemorate the Babyn Yar massacre

Two coins dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Babyn Yar massacre will appear in Ukraine on September 27.

This is reported by UA with the reference to the website of the National Bank of Ukraine.

Commemorative coins “80th anniversary of the Babyn Yar massacre” will have denominations of UAH 5 and UAH 10. The first will be made of nickel silver, and the second will be made of silver.

On the obverse of the coin there is an inscription “Babyn Yar 1941” and the year of coinage, and on the reverse – “80th anniversary of the Babyn Yar massacre”.

Tragic events occurred in Babyn Yar in Kyiv during World War II.

More than 100,000 people were shot by the Nazis for two years, from September 1941 to September 1943. The victims of the tragedy were mostly Jews, but also Ukrainians, Romani and people of other nationalities.
