The European Union called on Russia to comply with international human rights standards in the occupied Crimea, and called sentencing of four Crimean Tatars by a Russian military court illegal and unacceptable.

UA informs this with reference to the Twitter account of the representative of the EU foreign policy service Peter Stano.

“The EU considers sentencing of 4 Crimean Tatars by a Russian military court illegal and unacceptable. We call on Russia to ensure full compliance with international human rights standards and other obligations under international law in the illegally annexed Crimea” – he noted.

The Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced Lenur Khalilov, Ruslan Mesutov, Ruslan Nagaev and Eldar Kantemirov – members of the so-called “Alushta group” in the fabricated Hizb ut Tahrir criminal case – to different terms in prison.
