British Prime Minister Keir Starmer called for increased pressure on Russia through tougher sanctions and warned that the Kremlin is likely to intensify its hybrid warfare campaign following the meeting of the Coalition of the Willing in Paris, UATV English reports.
Speaking after the summit, Starmer said allies must continue strengthening sanctions to increase pressure on Moscow.
“We must put more pressure on Russia by strengthening sanctions,” he said.
The British prime minister welcomed the European Union’s introduction of its first package of cyber sanctions, saying the new measures would help target criminal groups involved in cyberattacks.
“Today, the European Union presented its first package of cyber sanctions, and we will be able to increase this pressure against criminal groups engaged in cybercrime,” Starmer said.
He also warned that Russia is expected to escalate hybrid operations against Europe as pressure on the Kremlin continues to mount.
“We can expect another escalation from Putin in terms of hybrid attacks,” Starmer said.
The remarks came as Western allies continue expanding sanctions against Russia while stepping up efforts to counter cyber threats, sabotage, and other forms of hybrid warfare linked to the Kremlin.
