Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski warned that Russia may be preparing a false flag operation involving Ukrainian drones.

The Polish minister’s statement is cited by Polsat News, UATV English reports.

During a visit to the US, the head of Poland’s foreign ministry confirmed that Poland expects a similar Russian provocation, adding that Ukrainian drones could play a key role in it.

“Putin even said something like this about a month ago. He said: if a NATO member country attacks us, we’ll respond. So we suspect he’s planning to obtain Ukrainian drones and use them to attack a NATO member country or Russia itself, and then respond to that attack,” Sikorski said.

According to him, Kremlin ruler Vladimir Putin could resort to such actions “the more desperate and losing he becomes.”

“Such regimes always act this way. I’ll remind you of the 1939 Gleiwitz incident, when Abwehr agents disguised as Polish soldiers seized radio stations on the territory of what was then the Reich. Our message to Vladimir Putin is this: we know what you’re planning, don’t do it,” the minister stressed.

Sikorski expressed his conviction that Russia lacks the resources to attack Poland right now, though Moscow could resort to provocations against the country.

Media had previously reported that the United States reportedly passed a warning to Warsaw that Moscow is considering an armed provocation against Poland to “test NATO’s resolve.”
