Session of the UN General Assembly begins in the USA

The two-week 76th session of the UN General Assembly starts in New York on September 14.

The general debate will begin on Tuesday, September 21. They will run until Monday, September 27.

Each country was allowed a delegation of five this year. Last year, the jubilee session of the UN General Assembly took place remotely.

Abdullah Shahid, who previously headed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives, will begin to serve as chairman of the UN General Assembly on September 14.

The general discussion will be preceded by the topics of coronavirus and climate change. It will be, in particular, about the inequality of distribution of vaccines in the world. These topics are expected to be raised by the leaders of countries that are fighting to access drugs against COVID-19. Representatives of these states will participate in the session remotely.

The agenda of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly also included consideration of the situation in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy also intends to attend the 76th session of the UN General Assembly. The plans of the head of state were announced by his press secretary Serhiy Nykyforov on September 8.
