Today, on April 10, Oleh Borysov, journalist of FREEDOM TV channel, spoke at the Council of Europe, in Strasbourg, where the spring session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the CoE is taking place. He provided PACE members with information about the Russian missile attack on April 6 on the building in Kyiv that houses the office of Ukraine’s foreign broadcasting.

Here is the video and full text of his speech.

Greetings. Thank you for the opportunity to speak. I’m a journalist with FREEDOM TV channel. This is a Ukrainian foreign broadcasting channel. On my way to Strasbourg, I learned that our TV studio in Kyiv was hit by a Russian ballistic missile. You can see the aftermath on the screen.

The studio, newsroom, office, communications were completely destroyed. Now we are working from a backup studio in order to continue broadcasting. This is the second time Russia has attacked our office.

The Russian Ministry of Defense officially said that they destroyed a military facility. Although obviously there is no military facility here. Putin and his troops are doing everything to destroy the truth, to destroy the evidence of their crimes.

At the beginning of a full-scale war, a Russian missile hit the TV tower in Kyiv. A Russian missile destroyed a TV tower in Kharkov. Russian troops take journalists prisoner. Because Putin is afraid of the truth. And we, Ukrainian journalists, are voicing this truth.

Why did Putin hit FREEDOM TV channel? Because we have several editorial offices that write news in different languages. We speak Russian, we speak Ukrainian, we speak English, we speak Arabic, hablamos español, nós falamos português. And Putin doesn’t like it. Russian propaganda is doing everything it can to broadcast its lies in Europe. We are the counter-propaganda.

The photo on the screen is proof of yet another Russian crime. The photo on the screen is a call to the European Union to continue to support Ukraine and to help us tell all the countries of Europe the truth about this war. The truth that will win. Because we Ukrainian journalists believe it.
