Children of journalists who died performing professional duties will receive scholarships

President Petro Poroshenko signed a decree on the appointment of the presidential scholarships to children of journalists who died performing their professional duties.

This is reported on the official website of the Head of State.

It is noted that the decree establishes presidential scholarships for children of journalists’ Viktor Hurniak – Yustyna Hurniak (born in 2012) and Oleksandr Chernikov – Olena Chernikova (born in 2014).

Viktor Hurniak and Oleksandr Chernikov died defending the independence of our state in the area of ​​the anti-terrorist operation.

The document was developed upon an initiative of the public in pursuance of the President’s decision of September 16, 2017, on introducing additional measures concerning the social protection of children of journalists who died or sustained disabilities disabled performing their professional duties, and increasing the effectiveness of state support to media workers and their families.
