Cooperation between the Russian Federation and Iran is confirmed by the regular purchase of Shahed drones, as well as the signing of a contract on the construction of a railway that will help complete the North-South project. The friendship between the Russian Federation and Iran does not end, despite the condemnation from the European Union (EU) and the USA, reports FREEDOM.
On the night of May 25, the Russian Federation once again launched dozens of Iranian-made drones into the territory of Ukraine. This is already the twelfth mass attack by the Shaheds since the beginning of May. The Ukrainian air defense system worked perfectly — all 36 drones were shot down. The President of Ukraine emphasized that today almost 900 “Shaheeds” have been shot down on the account of Ukrainian soldiers. Zelenskyi also appealed to the Iranian people.
“A simple question: why would you be complicit in Russian terror? Why are you on the side of the evil state? The world sees what is happening, and you see everything in Iran. Support for evil cannot be denied. Although we have learned to shoot down most of your kamikaze drones that you are handing over to Russia, there are still some hits. When an Iranian drone kills a pregnant Ukrainian girl and her husband in their home, why do you, mothers and fathers in Iran? When your “Shahed” hits the dormitory with our students, people die, a fire starts, rescuers arrive, and in a few minutes the second “Shahed” strikes, taking the lives of those who saved the lives of others. Why such cynical murders of Iran? With Russia’s hands, but with yours, your weapons,” he said.
Cooperation between the two terrorist states does not stop. The Kremlin is now seeking to purchase additional drones from Iran. Russia has already used most of the drones purchased in late summer 2022 to attack Ukrainian infrastructure.
“The Russian Federation used most of these unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to attack Ukrainian critical infrastructure facilities. By providing Russia with these UAVs, Iran is directly contributing to Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine,” said John Kirby, the US National Security Council’s strategic communications coordinator.
Close cooperation between Russia and Iran is evidenced by the fact that on May 21, a cargo plane from Tehran arrived in Moscow on the eve of the next mass kamikaze drone attack on Ukraine. Such a coincidence is not at all accidental, military expert Oleksandr Kovalenko believes.
“Another Iranian Il has landed in Moscow. It is easy to guess the nature of the cargo,” he wrote in his Telegram channel.
But the strong alliance between Iran and Russia is not only characterized by drones. Not so long ago, the states signed an agreement on the construction of the railway. According to analysts of the American Institute for the Study of War, this agreement will speed up the completion of the Iranian project — the North-South corridor. Thanks to the new 162-kilometer section between the Iranian cities of Resht and Astara, a direct connection will be created between St. Petersburg and the Persian Gulf.
Such support for evil on the part of Iran cannot be denied, Zelenskyi believes. And this, in turn, is even greater isolation from the world. But the people of Iran could live in a completely different way if they do not side with such an evil as Russian aggression, the president noted.
“I’m sure you must be on the other side of history – not with evil. Russia started this war for the sake of enslavement. It is a war of a colonizer against a neighboring nation. Russia even kidnaps people – our children! Thousands and thousands… Only absolute evil can steal the children of another nation. And, going against the Ukrainians, the Russian occupiers are destroying all other national communities that have been living on the land of Ukraine for centuries. This is confirmed by the burning of Greek Christian villages by the Russians and Russia’s systematic repression against the Crimean Tatar people, our Ukrainian Muslim community. The people of Iran could live very differently if you were not put on the same side with such an evil as Russian aggression. Your “Martyrs”, who terrorize Ukraine every night, only mean that the people of Iran are being pushed deeper and deeper into the dark side of history,” Zelenskyi said.
Cooperation between Iran and Russia is condemned by both the EU and the USA. And they call on other countries of the world not to provide material or other support to Russia’s aggressive war.
The EU and the USA continue to help Ukraine defend its independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity. One of the latest aid packages from the US Department of Defense includes additional air defense systems as well as anti-drone munitions. In addition, the US will continue to strengthen sanctions against Iran and Russia to limit the transfer of drones in order to destroy the already formed axis of evil.
