The first round of negotiations on revising the economic part of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union will end this fall. This was stated by Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Olha Stefanishyna, UA informs.

According to her, the whole cycle of negotiations is almost over, and at the moment both sides – Ukraine and the EU – are ready for dialogue. The key issues that the agreement touches upon are the tariff terms of trade.

Stefanishyna noted that the dynamics and rhetoric of the dialogue have changed: now the representatives of the European Union speak about the Agreement as a bilateral document, which should be implemented by both Ukraine and the EU.

The next issue will be the “visa-free customs”.

“The next round of negotiations will concern the reduction of non-tariff barriers, which, among other things, can be achieved through the conclusion of the Agreement on the Assessment of Conformity and Acceptability of Industrial Products or the so-called industrial visa-free regime and Ukraine’s accession to the Convention on the Common Transit Procedure” – Olha Stefanishyna wrote on Facebook.

Besides, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that gaining membership in the EU and NATO is a fundamental priority of Ukraine’s foreign policy. At the same time, he believes that the state has already done enough to get clear confirmation of joining the European Union and NATO.
