The U.S. State Department issued a statement on the fourth anniversary of Euromaidan that commended Ukraine for all the changes that have already been made, and encouraged the government to further implement in-depth, comprehensive and well-timed reforms necessary to build a stable, democratic, prosperous and free country, Radio Svoboda reported.

” The U.S. will continue to support Ukraine, which still faces Russian aggression that claimed more than 10,000 lives and forced more than 1.6 million Ukrainians to become refugees,” Heather Nauert, spokesperson for the State Department said.

The White House recalled that from Nov. 21, 2013 to Feb. 21, 2014, more than a hundred people were killed during the clashes between protesters and law enforcement in the center of Kyiv. Most people died from snipers, who aimed at the protesters’ head, heart and neck.

Subsequently, the protestors who were killed were called “The Heavenly Hundred.”

According to the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine, 2,500 people were injured during Euromaidan and 104 of them were killed.
