German companies DEUTZ AG and ARX Robotics have launched serial production of the Gereon unmanned ground robotic system (UGV), with the first units expected to be delivered to Ukraine by the end of the summer.
According to DEUTZ, production has begun at the company’s plant in Ulm as part of a strategic partnership with ARX Robotics aimed at strengthening support for Ukraine and expanding Europe’s defense industrial base, UATV English reports.
The two companies formalized their cooperation in October 2025 and are now scaling up manufacturing to meet demand.
“To deliver Gereon to Ukraine, we are ramping up production at our Ulm facility. Our strategic partnership with ARX Robotics makes a significant contribution to strengthening Europe’s defense policy by supporting Ukraine,” said Marco Herr, CEO of DEUTZ Defense.
The Gereon is an unmanned ground robotic platform designed to support military operations, including logistics, reconnaissance, casualty evacuation, and the transport of supplies in high-risk environments.
The announcement comes as European defense manufacturers continue expanding cooperation with Ukraine. Earlier, European Commission defense spokesperson Thomas Regnier said the EU and Ukraine are already working together on multiple joint defense production projects as part of broader efforts to strengthen Europe’s defense industry and support Kyiv’s military capabilities.
