Russia’s NORSI oil refinery in the Nizhny Novgorod region has suspended crude oil processing following a Ukrainian drone attack on July 2, Reuters reported, citing two industry sources, UATV English reports.

The NORSI refinery, officially known as Lukoil-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez, is Russia’s fourth-largest refinery by processing capacity and the country’s second-largest gasoline producer.

According to Reuters, it is the latest Russian refinery forced to halt operations following Ukrainian long-range strikes targeting the country’s fuel and energy infrastructure.

The agency noted that repeated Ukrainian attacks on Russian refineries, launched after Russia intensified strikes on Ukraine’s energy sector, have forced Moscow to import gasoline, including supplies from India.

On Thursday, the Russian government also authorized refineries to continue producing gasoline and diesel fuel with higher sulfur content through the end of the year, according to a government decree.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin publicly acknowledged that both consumers and businesses in Russia have been facing difficulties purchasing gasoline.
