Canada is exploring various ways to participate in a future operation to support long-term peace in Ukraine, Chief of Defence Staff of Canada Gen. Jenny Karinian said in an interview with CBC Radio.
“Right now, my colleagues at the Defence Staff and I are working to understand the needs. At the moment, no one knows what the ceasefire will look like,” she responded when asked about Canada’s potential contribution to the Coalition of the Willing’s peace support efforts in Ukraine.
Karinian noted that even after a possible ceasefire, Ukraine will still need allied support for training and army development.
“We are already providing this support to Ukraine — and it will continue, while other measures are still being considered,” said Canada’s Chief of Defence Staff.
