Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that he had a phone conversation with Donald Trump, congratulating him on his U.S. presidential election victory.
Zelenskyy shared the news on X.
“I had an excellent conversation with President Donald Trump and congratulated him on his historic, decisive victory.” Zelenskyy said.
He added that they agreed on maintaining a close dialogue and strengthening cooperation.
“Strong and steadfast U.S. leadership is essential for the world and for a just peace.” President of Ukraine added.
On Wednesday, it was reported that Zelenskyy congratulated Trump on his victory and expressed hope that under Trump’s leadership, the U.S. would continue its strong bipartisan support for Ukraine. Zelenskyy also called Trump’s victory a “special day” and referenced Reagan.
As previously reported, U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris, in her first speech after the election loss, vowed to continue the fight—likely hinting at ongoing political involvement.
Previously, U.S. President Joe Biden also congratulated Donald Trump on his election victory and invited him to the White House.
