President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has expressed gratitude to Donald Trump for his commitment to ending Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, responding to the newly announced deadline the U.S. president gave to Vladimir Putin.

Writing on X, Zelenskyy praised Trump’s “clear stance and firm determination,” noting that “much can change now through strength — to achieve a real peace.”

“I thank President Trump for his focus on saving lives and ending this terrible war. Ukraine remains committed to peace and will tirelessly work with the United States to make our countries safer, stronger, and more prosperous,” Zelenskyy added.

Earlier on Monday, Trump voiced disappointment with Putin and pledged to shorten the original 50-day deadline he had set for reaching a peace agreement in Ukraine. According to the U.S. president, the new deadline is “approximately 10–12 days from today.”
