President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Ankara to discuss strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities, including combat aviation, air defense, and bilateral defense cooperation, UATV English reports.
The two leaders focused on enhancing Ukraine’s combat aviation capabilities, including preparations for the introduction of Gripen fighter jets and the continued training of Ukrainian pilots.
They also discussed progress toward concluding a Drone Deal agreement between Ukraine and Sweden, which is expected to expand defense cooperation and support joint production initiatives.
Another key topic was strengthening Ukraine’s air defense, particularly the urgent need for additional anti-ballistic capabilities to protect Ukrainian cities from Russia’s growing use of ballistic missiles.
The meeting comes as Ukraine continues to work with partners to accelerate deliveries of air defense systems and interceptor missiles while expanding long-term defense industrial cooperation with allied countries.
