Preparations for the EU-Ukraine summit will be one of the first steps that Volodymyr Zelenskyi as President of Ukraine will take.
A member of the Zelenskyi team, ex-finance minister of Ukraine Oleksandr Danylyuk, made the statement at a briefing in Brussels, broadcast by 112 Ukraine TV channel. As the adviser to the newly elected president noted, this issue was discussed during the meetings with European colleagues. This was reported by Ukrinform.
Danylyuk added that the Ukraine Reform Conference will be held in Toronto in July to discuss the assistance of partner countries in advancing reforms in Ukraine. According to the adviser, Zelenskyi will most likely take part in this event.
As noted by another adviser to Zelenskyi, Ruslan Riaboshapka, the issue of the release of Ukrainian prisoners of war and all Ukrainians “held captive by the Russian side” were discussed at the meetings with European partners in Brussels.
“This is also one of the priorities, including foreign policy, along with the restoration of effective work within the Normandy format and the release of captives,” Riaboshapka said.
Advisers to the president-elect, Oleksandr Danylyuk and Ruslan Riaboshapka, participated in the meeting of the EU Political and Security Committee at the invitation of the European side and held a series of bilateral meetings with foreign policy advisers, in particular, with European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, European Council President Donald Tusk, and with representatives of the European Commissioners.
The meeting was also attended by the 28 ambassadors of the European Union.
The advisers presented the program of the elected president’s team, in particular, on the continuation of reforms and solving security problems, including energy security of Ukraine.
