Zelensky & Tusk Visit Luhank Region

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and European Council President Donald Tusk went to the Luhansk region today (July 7) to observe and hear a report on the security situation there.

The two met with representatives of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission as got acquainted with humanitarian projects implemented with European Union support.

Earlier, in the Odesa region, Zelensky took part in events celebrating the Day of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In a speech, he said that one of Ukraine’s top priorities is building up its navy to defend itself against Russian aggression along with acquiring the release of Russian-held prisoners-of-war, a group of sailors taken captive by Moscow last October.

Zelensky also observed the joint Ukrainian and NATO military exercises at the port of Odesa, operation Sea Breeze-2019. Among the more risky elements of training completed at Sea Breeze was a parachute landing from a helicopter at sea.
