Volodymyr Zelensky: Russia’s withdrawal from this war should not be at the expense of Ukraine

The discussion of the future of the Russian Federation by world leaders is a positive signal, but any scenario cannot be realized at the expense of Ukraine. This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a conversation with media representatives on the occasion of Journalist’s Day.

“It is an important trend that leaders have started talking about the future of Russia. I certainly consider this a positive signal. If they are talking about the future of Russia, it means that it is not Russia that is talking about our future. I think this is the power of our state. Thanks to the Ukrainian people, most of the world has made a choice in this war,” he emphasized.

Having made this choice, according to the President, the world began to think about how to build relations further.

“How they will live with a different Russia, with a different format of Russian leadership, with different conditions,” the Head of State said.

At the same time, Volodymyr Zelenskyy sees a risk that certain circles of international partners will look for solutions to help Russia get out of this war without taking Ukraine’s interests into account.

“I don’t want this solution to be found at our expense. And I am doing everything to prevent this from happening. We take part in such conversations, such topics are raised. But we are quite categorical in this: not at the expense of Ukraine!” the President emphasized.

The Head of State emphasized that Ukraine is not waging a war with the Russian Federation on Russian territory, but is defending its sovereign territory and liberating solely its lands from Russian invaders.

“We didn’t start the war, we do not need anything extra. We are not going to take anything away from anyone. But we are not ready to give up ours either,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy summarized.
