The US Department of State calls on Ukraine to expedite the process of forming the High Council of Justice.

UA writes with the reference to the website of the US State Department.

“The United States, together with the Government of Ukraine, civil society, and other international partners, all recognize that judicial reform is critical to strengthening the rule of law and attracting foreign investment to Ukraine” – the document notes.

According to a statement, Ukraine passed a historic law in July that allows the real reform of the judiciary. And international partners have appointed highly qualified experts to support the renewal of the highest judicial authority in Ukraine – the High Council of Justice.

However, the Council of Judges of Ukraine refused to nominate its representatives to participate in the process, was noted in the US State Department on September 13. This “threatens to frustrate promises of real judicial reform in Ukraine”.

There is still time to maintain positive momentum, the statement said.

It is noted, that Department will continue to contribute to an important reform so that the people of Ukraine can trust their courts and judges, as well as that Ukraine can continue its path to Euro-Atlantic integration.

To remind, The United States will fulfill all obligations to support Ukraine in resisting the aggression of the Russian Federation.
