Ukraine needs to prepare for the difficult negotiation process on joining the European Union, as there may be problematic issues, for example, on agriculture. International political scientist, director of the Center for Public Research “Ukrainian Meridian” Dmitry Levus stated this on the FREEDOM TV channel.

According to him, the negotiation framework itself as a document consists of three parts – on the principles that govern accession negotiations, on the very content of the negotiations and on the procedure.

Levus emphasized that the EU is preparing for expansion, and no artificial delay in Ukraine’s entry into the European Union is expected. The slow pace is purely objective reasons, he believes.

“It’s clear, we need to talk about specifics, because, for example, there will definitely be problem areas in the negotiation process. This also applies to agriculture, because we understand perfectly well that countries that live in the European agricultural system, where there are strict quotas, fought for each of them: you can remember how Poland entered, now Poland is in this position. That is, this is the path that will now have to be taken, namely the negotiation path. Therefore, I think that it makes sense to prepare for such rather difficult negotiations, let’s say, not easy. Because political decisions are one thing, how it will all be implemented is another matter,” said the international political scientist.
