Ukraine’s newly appointed Commander-in-Chief, Maj. Gen. Mykhailo Drapatyi, said Russia’s leadership “has no right to exist in the civilized world,” reflecting on his experience since the beginning of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine in 2014, UATV English reports.
Speaking about the early days of the conflict, Drapatyi acknowledged that he initially felt fear after Russia launched its military aggression against Ukraine.
“At first, there was fear. But it was quickly replaced by everyday combat work,” he said.
The commander said years of war had reinforced his conviction that the Russian leadership bears responsibility for the aggression against Ukraine and should have no place in the civilized world.
Drapatyi, who was appointed Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine this week, has previously stated that serving Ukraine during its war for independence is both an honor and “an absolute responsibility.”
