The US Senate has placed a bill on Ukraine support on the legislative calendar, opening the possibility for its further consideration on the floor. This is stated on the official website of the US Congress, UATV English reports.
According to the published information, the document received its second reading and was placed on the Senate’s legislative calendar.
In addition, the Senate Armed Services Committee included in the defense budget bill (NDAA) an allocation of $750 million for Ukraine’s security assistance program. The document also enshrines a ban on any actions recognizing Russian sovereignty over Ukrainian territories, and provides for intelligence support to Kyiv.
Thus, Congress is demonstrating its readiness to continue helping Ukraine, despite political disputes and the White House’s position.
Earlier, Acting Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha stated that Ukraine expects the European Union to adopt not a compromise but an effective sanctions package that will exert maximum economic pressure on Russia. According to him, pressure on Russia should only continue to increase.
