Ukraine’s air defense forces intercepted 89% of the missiles and drones launched by Russia during large-scale attacks in June, according to the Ukrainian Defense MinistryUATV English reports.

The ministry said Russian forces launched nearly 6,000 missiles and drones against Ukraine over the course of the month, with almost 5,300 of them destroyed by Ukrainian air defenses.

According to the ministry, air defense units intercepted 90% of Shahed, Gerbera, and Italmas attack drones, as well as 90% of cruise missiles, including Kalibr, Iskander-K, and Kh-101 missiles.

Ukraine also intercepted 40% of Russia’s ballistic missiles, including Iskander and Kinzhal missiles, as well as 48N6DM missiles and other aerial threats.

The Defense Ministry stressed that ballistic missiles remain the greatest challenge, as intercepting them requires a sufficient supply of PAC-3 interceptor missiles for Patriot air defense systems.

The ministry said Ukraine continues to work with international partners to strengthen its air defense capabilities and urged allies to transfer available interceptor missiles from their stockpiles to help protect Ukraine’s critical infrastructure.

On the night of July 9, Ukrainian air defenses shot down or neutralized 72 of the 94 drones launched by Russia, according to the Ukrainian military.
