Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with his Polish counterpart Andrzej Duda in Brussels, where Duda assured Zelenskyi of Poland’s unwavering support.
“I am happy today to shake hands with President Zelenskyi and start a new relationship for years to come. I hope that together we can do much for the common welfare of our peoples. I assure Mr. President that Poland constantly supports the pro-European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations of Ukraine. This issue is extremely important to us,” Duda said.
Zelenskyi also said that relations between Ukraine and Poland will continue to grow.
“I hope and believe that by joint efforts we will create a story of success of the relations of sincere friendship and partnership between Ukraine and Poland. I am convinced that the list of our common goals, interests, and projects that we will jointly defend and implement, in particular at the European level, will further expand. This is the purpose of our strategic partnership and common future,” Zelesnskyi said.
Duda said that Poland continues to support Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty as well. He said that the occupied areas of the Donbas region should be liberated and Crimea de-occupied, Ukrinform reported.

“Ukraine should be restored its natural borders. It is also very important to us,” Duda said.
Many Ukrainian citizens now live in Poland, bilateral trade is developing well, and future trade growth with Ukraine is likely, as it is a big country with great potential, Duda said.
“We also talked about important and difficult historical themes. I believe that a presidential team of experts, set up by the presidents of Poland and Ukraine, will be able to actively engage in studying the problems in our bilateral relations and restoring the spirit of truth. We hope for reconciliation and active cooperation between our countries. This is what also worries the president of Ukraine,” Duda said.
Zelenskyi accepted an invitation from Duda to come to Warsaw to mark the anniversary of World War II, Duda said.
“I will be happy to welcome you to Warsaw and I want to congratulate you again on your election victory,” Duda told Zelenskyi.
