Ukraine and Hungary have officially concluded a historic agreement on the educational, cultural, linguistic, and political rights of the Hungarian community in Zakarpattia.

This was announced on June 13 by Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar, UATV English reports.

“The historic agreement between Hungary and Ukraine on the educational, cultural, linguistic, and political rights of the Hungarians of Zakarpattia has become official,” Magyar stated.

It should be noted that the text of the document has not yet been published. However, according to Magyar, the Ukrainian side has committed to implementing all provisions outlined in the official report and has incorporated the agreement into the EU Action Plan on minorities.

“In just a few weeks, it was possible to resolve an issue that the Orbán government could not settle in ten years,” Péter Magyar said.

Earlier, Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Taras Kachka stated that Kyiv and Budapest had held constructive negotiations on issues concerning national minorities.
