Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has announced the beginning of a new phase in relations between Ukraine and Hungary, emphasizing a partnership based on mutual respect, trust, and a shared European future.
In a post on X, Sybiha thanked Cyprus for its efforts in preparing the launch of the first negotiation cluster for Ukraine’s accession to the European Union and expressed gratitude to international partners for their continued support, UATV English reports.
“We are opening a new chapter in relations between Ukraine and Hungary — a chapter built on mutual respect, trust, and our shared European future. Ukraine is moving forward,” Sybiha stated.
The remarks come amid a noticeable improvement in ties between Kyiv and Budapest following the political changes in Hungary.
Earlier, Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Magyar confirmed that he is ready to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the near future, noting that active negotiations between the two countries are currently underway.
The renewed dialogue is expected to contribute to Ukraine’s European integration efforts and strengthen regional cooperation.
