For the first time ever, Donald Trump’s White House administration has blamed the Russian government for a series of cyber-attacks targeting the American power grid.

This week, the U.S. sanctioned 19 Russian people and five groups, including Moscow’s intelligence services for election meddling and cyber-attacks. U.S. security officials have long warned America may be vulnerable to cyber-attacks. Cybersecurity Company Symantec said a group dubbed Dragonfly had targeted energy companies in the United States and Europe – and in some cases broke into the core systems. The White House’s first public condemnation of Russia’s cyber-attacks has come at a pivotal point for Donald Trump, who appears to be taking a more confrontational stance towards an evermore bellicose Russia.
