Help for Ukraine from the United States is an investment in their own reputation, – Podolyak

US assistance to Ukraine is an investment in the reputation of the United States of America itself. Two-thirds of the amount provided in the new relief package remains in the American economy. Advisor to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine (OPU) Mykhailo Podolyak said this on the FREEDOM TV channel.

“Aid to Ukraine in the amount of more than $60 billion is not an investment in some abstract war with unclear goals and objectives. This is an investment in the reputation of the United States and nothing more. Two-thirds of the allocated amount remains in the US economy. These funds will be used for military production,” Podolyak said.

According to him, the bill on assistance to Ukraine, for which the US House of Representatives voted on April 20, states that about $23 billion will be used to replenish the military reserves of the United States.

“That is, roughly speaking, materials and tools for Ukraine will be taken from warehouses and, accordingly, government orders will immediately be received for military enterprises of the United States, taking into account the experience of this war, with a focus on upgrading weapons and replenishing warehouse stocks within the United States,” added speaker.

Investments in Ukraine for the United States, according to Podolyak, look like this:

  • the first is US global leadership;
  • second, leadership among democracies in the world;
  • third, demonstrating to Europe that the United States still remains the dominant country;
  • fourth – a return to international law as such;
  • fifth, the reset of Russia’s reputation and, conversely, the restoration of the fundamental reputation of the United States.

“I have no doubt that both representatives of the Republican Party and representatives of the Democratic Party understand this very well. That this is not politics, these are more global issues,” said the guest of the broadcast.

He also noted that overall US rhetoric has changed. This, Podolyak believes, is due to the fact that the United States has realized the risks to its reputation that the uncertainty of helping Ukraine poses.

“The rhetoric has changed significantly. They understand the risks that uncertainty poses for the reputation of the United States, for the leadership of the United States. I think that as soon as the bill is approved [in the Senate] and signed by the president, supplies to Ukraine will be very quickly ensured,” summed up the adviser to the head of the OPU.

Let us remind you that on April 20, the US House of Representatives voted for a bill to help Ukraine. We are talking about an amount of more than 60 billion dollars. Consideration of this issue was blocked starting in October 2023.

The US decision to help Ukraine will be felt by soldiers on the front line, and by cities and villages that suffer from Russian terror, said President Vladimir Zelensky.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba called April 20 “a bad day for Putin” and said that the United States had confirmed its global leadership.
