There are battles in the Avdiivka direction, the winter battle has not yet come to an end, but there is no significant movement of the Russian Armed Forces. Military observer Denis Popovich spoke about this on the FREEDOM TV channel.

“Now there are positional battles. The intention of the Russian army to advance on the shoulders to the west from Avdiivka, after we left this city, did not materialize. Now there are battles on the line Tonenke, Berdychi, Orlivka. Different villages have different situations and different presence of Russian troops,” Popovich said.

He noted that the advance of the Russian army is slowing down.

“I would not make a final conclusion that the winter battle is coming to an end,” the military observer noted.

Popovich believes that the Russian army may try to reach the Volchya River, which is located west of Avdiivka.

“However, we can hardly expect any significant operational breakthroughs, if we are talking about the western direction from Avdiivka to Pokrovsk. To do this, the Russians will obviously need to regroup and try to implement the next wave of offensive,” he suggested.

A military observer expressed the opinion that the Russian occupation forces will try to advance towards Chasovoy Yar.

“Chasiv Yar is a dominant height, and if the Russians manage to take it, then they will be able to get quite broad prospects both for an attack on the flank and rear of the Ukrainian Armed Forces grouping that is now operating south of Bakhmut, and for further advance towards Druzhkivka, Konstantinovka and others large settlements located in the Donetsk region,” Popovich noted.

He expressed the opinion that there would be no aggravation at the front, as well as an offensive in new directions.

“But the pressure will continue in the area of Avdiivka and Chasiv Yar, in the Bakhmut area and, possibly, Kurakhove, Vugledar. There, the Russian army will try to press further and will try to advance,” the military observer added.
