Following his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi, U.S. Senator Robert Portman said that he’s been in touch with the American State Department with ideas the two discussed on countering Russian propaganda, signal jamming, and disinformation.

Portman said that the two had talked about Russian propaganda along the eastern border and Moscow’s efforts to jam Ukrainian TV signals to sow the seeds for dissension for people in Donbas.

Among other topics that the two discussed at their May 30 meeting were early Ukrainian parliamentary elections, strategies to put pressure on Russia, and reforms.

The senator and president also discussed the importance of the Ukrainian diaspora in the United States, “about two million people strong, thousands of whom live in Ohio. My constituents. We talked about how they are putting great hopes in his leadership and are willing to do all they can to help,” Portman said in a speech on the Senate floor.
