Poroshenko Signs Decree Outlining Inauguration Responsibilities

Incumbent President Petro Poroshenko has signed a decree on ensuring the conduct of events related to the inauguration of president-elect Volodymyr Zelenskyi.

The decree, No. 228/2019, has been posted on the president’s website.

According to the document, the organizing committee has been formed and approved “to properly organize the events related to the inauguration of the newly elected President of Ukraine.”

The committee includes 16 officials and representatives of president-elect Volodymyr Zelenskyi.

In particular, the committee has been charged with approving a plan within two days for the organization and conduct of activities related to inauguration.

In addition, the Foreign Ministry has been instructed to take measures in line with established protocol and invite foreign delegations, representatives of the diplomatic corps of foreign countries, to attend the inauguration ceremony.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs has been tasked with additional measures to ensure public order during the preparations and conduct of activities related to inauguration.

In addition, the Cabinet of Ministers and the State Management of Affairs have been instructed to carry out financial, material and technical support of events related to the inauguration, while the State Committee for Television and Radio Broadcasting has been charged with providing wide media coverage of these events.

The inauguration of Volodymyr Zelenskyi is scheduled for 10.00am Kyiv time on May 20, 2019.
