An exhibition of the works of the famous photo artist, Igor Gaidai, called “Maidan: Faces of Freedom,” opened in the Taras Shevchenko National Museum on Feb.19.

The exhibition has over 30 photos and has already been presented in London and New York. Some of the pictures are even on the Berlin Wall Memorial.

Gaidai admits that he did not come to Maidan as a photographer, but he immediately felt the need to capture the bright faces of the heroes.

“In their eyes there was no fear, no reproach, no doubt, only an inspired belief in victory. These photos are for us not to forget about them and philosophically think about these fateful events,” Gaidai said.

He added that he did the whole series together with his wife, Nina, who passed away in the fall of 2017. Therefore, this exhibition is dedicated to her memory.

The event was attended by family members of the Heavenly Hundred Heroes.
