Mount Etna erupts in Sicily (PHOTOS)

Mount Etna erupted on the Italian island of Sicily on the night of August 9.

The European Pravda reports this with reference to Rai News.

The eruption started at about 1:40 am and ended at 5:00 am. It was accompanied by loud roars and lava flows.

The volcanic eruption led to a magnitude 4.5 earthquake.

The streets of the city of Zafferana-Etnea next to the volcano were covered with volcanic ash.

Earlier it was reported that in Greece the suburbs of Athens were evacuated due to a fire.
