Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov held talks with France’s Minister of the Armed Forces Catherine Vautrin to discuss strengthening Ukraine’s air defense and additional deliveries of Mirage 2000-5 fighter jets, UATV English reports.
Fedorov thanked Vautrin for France’s long-standing and consistent support, as well as its strong contribution to the development of Ukraine’s air and air defense capabilities.
“This is a partnership that already works to protect the Ukrainian sky,” the defense minister said.
According to Fedorov, efforts are ongoing to strengthen air defense and counter new technological threats. He expressed hope for the supply of munitions from France — both for SAMP/T and Crotale air defense systems, as well as long-range capabilities — and thanked France for its readiness to deliver additional French-made missiles in the near future.
In addition, the minister announced further deliveries of aircraft, emphasizing that this will significantly enhance Ukraine’s air capabilities.
Fedorov also highlighted France’s principled position on limiting the activities of Russia’s “shadow fleet,” noting that reducing the enemy’s resources is key to lowering its capacity to finance the war.
The minister invited his French counterpart to visit Ukraine and stressed readiness to take cooperation to a new level, including in data sharing and joint analysis.
Earlier, reported that Fedorov and the U.S. Chargé d’Affaires in Ukraine Julie Davis discussed bilateral cooperation in air defense and drones.
