As part of a working trip to the United States of America, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with the U.S. President Joe Biden at the White House.

This is reported by UA.

The heads of the states discussed, in particular, the threats of Nord Stream 2, security issues in the Black Sea region, as well as Ukraine’s NATO membership prospects.

“The parties are really interested in the dialogue and the result” – Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on the meeting.

According to him, Joe Biden marked the land and judicial reforms in Ukraine.

The head of state said that the meeting took place in a normal, productive, however not always “sunny” atmosphere.

“It was a real men’s conversation” – he said.

According to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the United States support Ukraine’s membership in NATO.

“There was support, there were no deadlines. We talked about NATO, about the place where Ukraine is in this Alliance. I heard that the president personally supports Ukraine regarding the granting of NATO membership, and it is difficult to say what the path will it be” – he said.

Also, as the president said, during the negotiations the word “Crimea” sounded many times.

“The word “Crimea” has sounded many times. Starting with complimentary words on the Crimean platform. This is a very powerful initiative. This is the opinion of the United States of America. And the US want to further support this initiative. The issue of Crimea is complex. Therefore, they talked about Crimea many times. The issue is difficult both for the de-occupation of Crimea and for the prisoners”, he said.

The parties also discussed the situation in Donbass.

“We also talked about Donbass. I have suggested formats. Representatives of the United States of America at the presidential level are interested in implementation into the format of a peaceful settlement of the conflict in Donbass. The United States will think about my proposal, since I did not give details before the meeting” – Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted.

Earlier it was reported that Ukraine and the United States signed an agreement on the basis of a defense partnership.

To remind, the United States will provide Ukraine with an additional USD 60 million in aid.
