Fans voted Marta Kostyuk, the Ukrainian tennis player, as having the second-best breakthrough for the month of April.

This is reported by the official website of the WTA .

The 15-year-old Ukrainian sensation became the youngest player since Martina Hingis in 1994 to win a first round match in Stuttgart last month, with a straight sets victory over Antonia Lottner of Germany. Kostyuk later pushed the No.7 ranked player in the world, Caroline Garcia, all the way, in their second round clash, but the Frenchwoman came through, 6-1, 3-6, 7-5. Kostyuk also defeated top seed Alizé Cornet in the final qualifying round, for her second-best victory in terms of ranking this year.

25-year-old Romanian, Ana Bogdan, was voted as having the breakthrough of the month. Bogdan made back-to-back semifinals on two different surfaces in Monterrey and Bogotá, seeing her campaigns stopped only by the eventual champion each time.

Third place was taken by the 23-year-old American, Bernarda Pera. She made the first quarterfinal of her career at the WTA Premier-level event in Charleston. She entered the week as world No.101, but scored wins over former finalist Jana Cepelova, rising teenage sensation Dayana Yastremska, and former French Open finalist Sara Errani, to reach the last eight and secure her Top 100 debut.
