Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade Helen McEntee have announced a new €125 million assistance package for Ukraine for 2026, UATV English reports.
The package includes €100 million for priority non-lethal military equipment and a further €25 million to help restore and protect Ukraine’s critical infrastructure, with a particular focus on the energy sector ahead of winter.
Martin announced the support during a visit to Kyiv on July 23.
“The support announced today will help Ukraine defend itself against attacks and save civilian lives. It will also help Ukraine prepare for the coming winter by protecting and restoring energy infrastructure,” he said.
The Irish prime minister added that support for Ukraine would remain a key priority during Ireland’s presidency of the Council of the European Union.
Martin arrived in Kyiv earlier on Thursday, saying the visit was intended to underline the continuing solidarity of both Ireland and the EU with Ukraine and its people.
His trip came three weeks after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited Dublin to mark the beginning of Ireland’s EU Council presidency.
Martin has also reiterated Ireland’s support for Ukraine’s future membership in the European Union and expressed hope that obstacles on Kyiv’s accession path can be overcome.
