A new variant of the “delta” strain (AY.4.2) was first recorded in Ukraine, in the city of Dnipro.

This was reported by UA with reference to a Facebook message from the Institute of Molecular Biology and Genetics.

Institute of Molecular Biology and Genetics scientists received from the Center for Public Health of Ukraine 75 samples taken in late October from patients with coronavirus from eight regions of Ukraine.

The results of the study of the samples show that in Ukraine the maternal strain “delta”, the so-called Indian (B.1.617.2) predominates – it was found in 60% of the samples that were studied at the Institute. Also, scientists for the first time recorded the appearance of strain “Delta” AY.4.2 in samples provided from the city of Dnipro.

“This version of the “delta” British scientists consider the most contagious of all variants of the SARS-CoV-2 virus” – said in a statement.

To remind, on November 23 in Ukraine 14 325 new patients with a coronavirus are registered.
