Head of Zelensky’s Office and Advisor to the Federal Chancellor of Germany discussed system of security guarantees for Ukraine

Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak had a phone conversation with Foreign Policy Advisor to the Federal Chancellor of Germany – Director of the Department of Foreign Policy, Security and Development of the Federal Chancellery of Germany Jens Plötner. President’s Office press center stated this.

The parties discussed the security and economic support for our state, as well as the formation of a system of security guarantees for Ukraine.

Expressing gratitude to Germany for helping Ukraine in the face of Russia’s full-scale aggression, Andriy Yermak emphasized the need for our country to quickly receive modern weapons.

The interlocutors also discussed the issue of further macro-financial support for Ukraine from Germany and the EU.

Separately, the Head of the President’s Office focused on the issue of increasing sanctions pressure on Russia.

Andriy Yermak also expressed hope for a high level of participation of the German side in the online summit of the international Crimea Platform on August 23.

In 2022 Germany has increased its funds for security capacity building to 2 billion Euros. These additional funds are primarily dedicated to Ukraine as well as German contributions to the European Peace Facility, from which cost of military support measures for Ukraine can be reimbursed to EU member states.

Germany is supplying Ukraine with all types of weapons and military hardware in its possession, including some of the newly-manufactured advanced systems that have not yet entered service with the German army itself, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said.
