European Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn offered Ukraine’s President-elect Volodymyr Zelenskyi assistance in negotiations on gas relations with Russia.
Ukraine’s gas contract with Russia expires at the end of the year.
“EU Commissioner Hahn, in turn, offered assistance in negotiations on gas relations with Russia, particularly in the context of the termination of the contract for the pumping of Russian gas at the end of 2019,” Zelenskyi’s press service wrote.
The commissioner also noted Zelenskyi’s landslide victory in Ukraine’s presidential election and invited him to make his first visit as president to Brussels.
