Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has taken part in a ceremony to honor the memory of Ukrainian soldiers who died in the downing of an IL-76 transport aircraft over Luhansk in 2014.
Zelensky laid flowers at the bell of memory on the grounds of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, according to TSN.ua.
The flower-laying ceremony was also attended by Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak and Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Ruslan Khomchak.
Russian military intelligence (GRU) officers shot down the military transport aircraft of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry on June 14, 2014. Forty-nine soldiers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were killed in the downing of the plane.
